Walker Works · Laurieton & the Camden Haven, NSW
Web design for the Camden Haven, written for the people who actually live here.
I’m AJ Walker, based in Port Macquarie, and the Camden Haven is half an hour down the road — Laurieton, North Haven, Dunbogan, Kew, Kendall, Lake Cathie and Bonny Hills.
Your customers here are older, and that changes the website
The Camden Haven has an older population than almost anywhere else on this coast. That is not a throwaway line, it is the single most important fact about your website, and most web designers build as if it were not true.
It means the text has to be big enough to read without glasses. It means the phone number goes at the top, in words you can actually see, not hidden behind a tidy little icon. It means no clever menu that unfolds when you hover, because plenty of your customers are on an iPad and there is no hover on an iPad. And it means a form with four boxes, not fourteen.
Get those right and you will out-convert a prettier site every time. That is the whole trick, and it is why I would rather build you something plain that works than something fashionable that does not.
No client logos on this page, and that is deliberate. Walker Works is new. I would rather say so than fill the page with stock photos and testimonials I wrote myself. The exact build and the exact price are below instead.
What it costs
- Three pages — Home, Services, Our Work
- Your phone number and an enquiry form on every one
- Written for your trade and your towns, not a template
- One round of changes, then seven days of free fixes after it goes live
- Live in 3–5 business days
- You own the code. The domain stays in your name.
Bigger operation? The Operator Starter runs $3,000–$12,000 + GST for a five to seven page build, and the tiers go up from there. It is all published on the pricing page — you can read the lot before you ring me.
What the three pages would actually say
Say you do lawns, gardens and odd jobs around Laurieton and North Haven, and most of your customers are over seventy.
Home. Your name, your photo, your number in large type, and the sentence that matters most to that customer: that the same person turns up every time. Not a crew. You.
Services. Mowing, edges, hedges, gutters, green waste, the odd job nobody else will do. With prices, or at least a starting price, because ringing to ask what it costs is exactly the friction that stops an older customer ringing at all.
Our Work. Before and after photos, and a plain line about being police-checked and insured if you are. For this customer, safety and reliability beat clever every single time.
Your domain goes in your name, against your ABN, from day one. Not mine. If you ever want someone else to look after the site, you take the domain and go — you do not have to ask me, and you do not have to buy it back.
Where I go
Laurieton, North Haven, Dunbogan, Kew, Kendall, Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills, and the farms and acreage behind them.
Half an hour from my place. I will come to you rather than send a proposal, and I would rather do it that way.
If I am up a ladder or on a job I will call you back the same day. Or send the form and I will read it myself — there is nobody else here to read it.
